Bobby Charles is a proud Mainer, raised in the small town of Wayne, where he learned the values of sacrifice, service, and community. With a mother who taught in public schools and a childhood shaped by the guidance of World War II veterans, Bobby’s life has been defined by dedication to something greater than himself.

From Maine to the World — And Back Again

Bobby’s path led him from Maranacook High School to Dartmouth, Oxford, and Columbia Law. But his goal was never to leave Maine behind—it was to gain the tools and experience needed to serve it better.

Over the course of his career, Bobby has held high-level roles in national security and public service:

  • Reagan White House staffer

  • Chief Counsel to the U.S. House National Security Subcommittee

  • Assistant Secretary of State under Secretary Colin Powell

  • Naval Intelligence Officer post-9/11

From leading global counter-narcotics efforts to strengthening America’s borders and defending our nation, Bobby has always answered the call to serve—with courage, integrity, and unwavering resolve.

Why He’s Running for Governor

Maine is facing real challenges—record overdose deaths, rising violent crime, unaffordable living costs, and an education system that’s lost its focus.

Bobby Charles is running for Governor because he believes Maine can do better. He’s bringing forward a bold plan to:

  • Crack down on crime by targeting traffickers and backing local law enforcement and our state troopers

  • Cut taxes and wasteful spending, protect senior’s hard-earned benefits, and make Maine affordable again for all

  • Restore education by prioritizing core subjects and keeping woke politics out of classrooms

  • Defend parental rights and ensure fairness and safety in our schools, especially when it comes to girls’ sports
